2. Accessibility practices and planned improvements
The following actions reflect our operations and the potential barriers identified through consultation. Brandon Brown will coordinate these actions with management and the staff responsible for the affected services.
Employment
TA Networks currently addresses employee accommodation needs individually as they arise. Employees can communicate their needs to management.
- By March 31, 2027, develop a written procedure explaining how employees can request accommodations, how requests will be considered and how personal information will be protected.
- Share the procedure with employees and explain who to contact for assistance.
- Consider accessibility when reviewing recruitment, onboarding and workplace procedures.
The built environment
Our office is primarily used by employees. Most customer interactions occur remotely or at customer locations. Customers occasionally visit to drop off or collect equipment.
One consultation respondent identified physical access as a potential barrier. This response does not establish that the respondent visited or assessed our office.
- By March 31, 2027, review access arrangements for employees and occasional visitors and record any barriers identified.
- Discuss individual access needs when arranging visits and provide suitable assistance or alternative arrangements.
- Consider accessibility when changing workplace layouts, equipment or facilities.
Information and communication technologies
We use our website, email and digital systems to provide service information and support. Two consultation respondents identified website accessibility as a potential barrier.
- By January 31, 2027, complete a review of priority customer-facing webpages, including support and contact information.
- Review headings, links, keyboard navigation, visible focus, text readability, forms, mobile layouts and compatibility with assistive technologies.
- Record identified issues, prioritize barriers that prevent access to information or services, and assign correction dates.
- Check our published accessibility plan, feedback description and progress reports against applicable WCAG Level AA requirements.
- Consider accessibility before introducing or changing customer-facing digital tools.
People who encounter a digital barrier may contact us by email or telephone for assistance accessing the information or service.
Communication other than information and communication technologies
We communicate with customers by telephone and email. Technical support is available at service@tanetworks.ca.
Three consultation respondents identified telephone communication as a potential barrier, and three identified written communication. Five indicated that email support would be a helpful alternative to telephone support.
- Continue offering both telephone and email communication.
- By March 31, 2027, review commonly used billing communications and service descriptions for plain language and clarity.
- Ask individuals what communication assistance would help when they identify a barrier.
- Provide clearer explanations or additional assistance according to the person’s needs.
Procurement of goods, services and facilities
TA Networks purchases telecommunications equipment, networking products, software and related services.
- By March 31, 2027, introduce an accessibility checklist for relevant purchases and replacements.
- Consider accessibility features and available supplier accessibility information when selecting customer-facing technologies.
- Include employee accommodation needs when selecting workplace equipment and facilities.
Design and delivery of programs and services
Our customers can request technical assistance by telephone or email. Consultation responses identified opportunities to explain services more clearly and offer additional assistance when people experience difficulties.
- By March 31, 2027, review customer support procedures to explain how staff should receive and respond to accessibility-related requests.
- Include a process for referring accessibility concerns to Brandon Brown.
- Consider accessibility feedback when changing services or support procedures.
- Review whether the assistance provided addresses the barrier identified by the individual.
Transportation
TA Networks does not operate a public passenger transportation service. Accessibility needs relating to employee travel to customer locations will be considered where applicable.
3. Accessibility Feedback Process
We welcome feedback from employees, customers and members of the public about accessibility barriers and how we are implementing this Accessibility Plan.
Feedback may concern our telecommunications services, website, communications, facilities or interactions with TA Networks. You do not need to complete the consultation questionnaire to provide feedback.
How to provide feedback
Designated contact: Brandon Brown
Email:
bbrown@tanetworks.ca
Telephone:
(905) 629-4200
You may describe the barrier, where or when it occurred and any improvement you would find helpful. Share only the information you are comfortable providing.
Anonymous feedback
You may provide feedback by telephone without giving your name or other identifying information. Tell the person receiving your call that you wish to provide anonymous accessibility feedback.
You are not required to provide contact information. If you would like a follow-up response, please provide a way for us to contact you.
Acknowledgement and review
We will acknowledge receipt of feedback unless it is anonymous. Where practical, we will use the same communication method through which the feedback was received.
Brandon Brown will review feedback, refer matters to the appropriate staff and track any actions taken. Feedback will help inform accessibility improvements, future plans and progress reports.
An acknowledgement confirms receipt. Some concerns may require additional review before we can explain the action we will take.
Confidentiality
We will keep personal information provided through this process confidential, subject to applicable privacy legislation. We will not disclose your personal information without your consent unless permitted or required by law.
Public summaries of accessibility feedback will not identify the individuals who provided it.
4. Alternative formats and communication support
You may request this Accessibility Plan, our Accessibility Feedback Process description and our published accessibility progress reports in the following formats:
- Large print
- Braille
- Audio
- An electronic format compatible with assistive technology
You may also request another format that we agree upon with you and document.
Contact Brandon Brown at bbrown@tanetworks.ca or (905) 629-4200. Please tell us which document and format you need.
We will provide the requested format as soon as feasible. Under the applicable CRTC Class T3 timelines, the maximum response time is 45 days after receipt of a request for Braille or audio, and 20 days for other requested formats. If a shorter regulatory deadline applies to TA Networks, we will follow that deadline.
If you need help communicating with us or accessing a document, please describe the assistance that would work for you.
5. Consultation with persons with disabilities
How we consulted
In preparing this initial plan, TA Networks conducted an external consultation using a voluntary, anonymous online questionnaire. Invitations were distributed to disability organizations seeking participation from people with disabilities.
The questionnaire asked about potential barriers when accessing telecommunications or technical support, communication preferences and suggested improvements.
Response period summarized: October 19–20, 2026
Total responses: 9
Respondents identifying as persons with disabilities: 7
Two respondents did not identify as persons with disabilities. The results below summarize all nine responses; they are not presented as a separate analysis of only the seven respondents with disabilities.
Potential barriers identified
- Telephone communication: 3 responses
- Written communication: 3 responses
- Website accessibility: 2 responses
- Physical access: 1 response
Participants could select more than one barrier. Six selected “Other or none.” Because that option combined two different possibilities, we did not interpret it as evidence that no barriers exist.
These questions concerned potential barriers. The results should not be interpreted as a technical accessibility audit or as confirmation that respondents had personally used every TA Networks service or visited our office.
Communication preferences and suggestions
Asked whether email support would be a helpful alternative to telephone support, five respondents answered “Yes,” three answered “Not sure” and one answered “No.”
Written suggestions included:
- Use plain language in billing communications.
- Explain TA Networks services more clearly.
- Offer additional assistance when people experience difficulties.
How the findings influenced this plan
We used these findings to identify the following priorities, reflected in Section 2:
- Maintain email and telephone support options.
- Review billing language and service descriptions.
- Review website accessibility and record corrective actions.
- Improve guidance for staff handling accessibility requests.
- Review access arrangements for occasional office visitors.
The consultation reflects a small group of participants and may not identify every barrier. We will continue considering feedback and involving people with disabilities when preparing future plans and progress reports.
Continue participating in consultation
The questionnaire remains available for voluntary consultation. Additional responses may inform future reviews, plans and progress reports. They are not included in the nine-response summary above.
This questionnaire is separate from our ongoing Accessibility Feedback Process. To report a barrier or comment on implementation of this plan, you may use the email and telephone feedback options.
Please do not include names, contact details, medical diagnoses or other identifying information in questionnaire responses. Every question may be skipped.
Responses are collected through Microsoft Forms for TA Networks to review accessibility barriers and possible improvements. We will use summaries of the responses in our accessibility planning and reporting. For questions about the use of responses, contact bbrown@tanetworks.ca.
Open the accessibility consultation questionnaire on its own page . This may be easier than using the embedded questionnaire, which has its own scrolling area.
If you cannot use the questionnaire, you may share consultation input by email or telephone using the contact details above.
6. How we considered the Accessible Canada Act principles
We considered the principles in section 6 of the Accessible Canada Act when developing this plan. The following explains how they informed our approach.
- Dignity: We made consultation voluntary and asked participants not to provide identifying information. Our feedback process allows anonymous feedback.
- Equal opportunity: We included employee accommodation procedures and customer service improvements so that accessibility needs can be addressed in work and service interactions.
- Barrier-free participation: We used the barriers raised through consultation to prioritize website, communication and access reviews.
- Meaningful choice: We maintained both email and telephone contact options. We recognize that one communication method will not work for everyone and that people may want support in making and communicating their choices.
- Different needs and intersecting barriers: We recognize that disabilities, environments and other forms of marginalization or discrimination can interact. We will discuss individual needs rather than assume that the same solution works for every person.
- Involvement of persons with disabilities: We sought external participation and incorporated the resulting suggestions into the actions in this plan. Future plans and progress reports will also include consultation with persons with disabilities.
- Advancing accessibility: We recognize the Act’s objective that accessibility standards and regulations aim for the highest level of accessibility. Our reviews will seek opportunities to prevent new barriers and improve access over time.
7. Monitoring and progress reporting
Brandon Brown will coordinate a review of the actions in this plan at least quarterly, beginning in January 2027. The review will record progress, outstanding barriers, responsible staff and any further action required.
We will maintain records of accessibility feedback, consultation findings and actions taken. If an action is delayed or changed, we will record the reason and identify the next steps.
We will prepare and publish updated accessibility plans and progress reports according to the regulatory schedule applicable to TA Networks.
Our progress reports will describe:
- Progress in implementing accessibility improvements.
- How persons with disabilities were consulted when preparing the report.
- Accessibility feedback received and how it was considered.
Published accessibility documents will be available through our website’s accessibility information. We will notify the CRTC of publication within the required time.
